Who I Am
My name is Jonathan Finnegan. I have building things on the internet since 1998.
I was raised with my older brother in Buffalo, NY. I moved to Philadelphia in 1998 to study video production at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. This was when I began toying around with basic HTML. I dropped out of the Art Institute when lack of a camera and expenses became a burden and I began focusing on Semantic Front-End Web Development and eventually ended up in Albuquerque, NM for a couple of years.
Upon moving back to Philadelphia in late 2004, I began studying Back-End development to compliment my Front-End skills. I chose to study PHP, being a free, Open-Source solution and began building custom Content Management solutions for my clients.
Having done freelance web-development alongside many part-time jobs for years, I landed a position at Associated Headquarters in Mt. Laurel, NJ in late 2005. The following year I landed a position in Philadelphia at Gyro Advertising. I continued to work as an in-house Lead Web-Developer, helping grow a team of 2 into an interactive department of 5. Unfortunately in August of 2008, economic situations and other unforeseen circumstances lead Gyro to dissolve their Interactive Department leaving me to explore the freelance world once again.
I am currently working part-time at I-Site in Old City, as well as working on an ever changing list of freelance projects. I am interested in exploring what other opportunities might be out there, whether freelance or full-time. Please feel free to view my portfolio for some of my featured work, or check out my resume.
I will be continually adding more work to this site as frequently as I can (client permitting). I will also be making an effort to post articles here about Web Development ideas, issues, and any other information that would be relevant to my professional life.
